http://www.netbooknews.com Think that OLPC is low tech well the next-generation XO Laptop looks like its got a couple of software tricks up its sleeve. The XO-1.75 Laptop will have a touchscreen display and it looks like developers are already taking advantage. One of the OLPC team members has ported the multi-lingual virtual keyboard from MeeGo to get the ball rolling. There is even a video of the little beauty in action.

An interesting development in the XO-1.75 evolution is their decision to use Fedora as the base distribution. The Sugar development team notes that "this wasn't an obvious decision -- ARM is not a release architecture in Fedora, and so we're committing to help out with that port."

  • Is there a way to use that virtual keyboard today? - Is there any version of Sugar where i can use it?

  • @gorogawa Nuff said.

  • @ig33ku I'm not even sure if "degratory" is a real word, but honesty, dude, I was just trying to be nice to the uploader in my first reply and you ruined it. And honestly, your joke was lame.

  • @gorogawa That is so funny considering "Please don't be an ignorant" is a patronising degratory phrase.

  • @ig33ku That's exactly why I didn't make any insensitive comments about it.

  • @gorogawa Hyper sensitive ppl like u tend to lead to violent confrontations especially when u seem to jump to conclusions with 1 sentence which is not racist. "That is probably Hindi" reflects ur lack of knowledge on what the script is.

  • @ig33ku I wonder if some people don't know where the line is! This language is spoken by millions of people and not respecting other peoples' identities is not humor.

  • @gorogawa I keep wondering if most of the human race is born without the humour gene and thus have to acquire the skill set.

  • @ig33ku Please don't be an ignorant. That is probably Hindi. I wonder if this has RTL support, too.

  • Don't think I can read hieroglyphics.
