  • Thanks for sharing. My great-grandmother used to wear a headscarf and she was Christian. Traditional Palestinian dress includes the headscarf and longsleave clothing, but it is not all black like the chador. It was commonplace in the Islamic world for women to wear the headscarf. No one was forced to wear it. Western influence made a lot of women and men adopt Western clothing, including showing the hair. But women can dress modestly without wearing chador. It was done for centuries.
