Burningbush is hard to maintain at 2 feet, by rule most shrubs should only be pruned 20-30% per year, which in time the burningbush would outgrow the 2feet. Spirea would work, but not as colorful, possibly flowering wigelia, but wigelia may eventually get too big. Did you find one to suit your need?

They get pretty tall, can you cut them down? What is the average height? I am looking for a colorful shrub that grows less the 2 feet ( I am a beginner so please excuse my ignorance)
