Music from Australia and New Zealand in the year 1989:

Ian Moss' promo-video for the hit single 'Out Of The Fire' taken from the 1989 album 'Matchbook'.

Ian Moss was out of the public spotlight for five years after the departure of Cold Chisel. In 1989, he and another ex-Chisel band mate Don Walker, composed the classic 'Tucker's Daughter', which consequently became Ian Moss' comeback hit single. 'Out Of The Blue' was the third single release and was the follow up to 'Telephone Booth'.

  • God, he is right in his element here. I've always thought of this one as being Ian Moss' best song. The nerves tingled to see the film clip performance too. Nice.

  • He's so sexy in that vid! Thanks for posting

  • just bought this album on vinyl for 5 bucks :) can't go wrong

  • Ian Moss, you'll never know how much you influenced our lives ; )

  • A legend

  • @LogicHead Completely agree. This song shows that the guitar isn't just an instrument to Mossy, it's an extension of his body. Met him about 12 years ago the day after a cold chisel show when he was checking out the sites down here in Tassy, absolute legend down to earth bloke. Made my year.

  • @krittle87 Do you want a medal? Good music should be listened to by everyone. Age is irrelevant.

  • Met Ian the morning after a cold chisel gig here in Tassie, nicest bloke you'll ever meet, got his autograph etc just such a down to earth guy.

  • omg I love MOSSY!!! playing his MATCHBOOK album now!!!! <3 He is just the best singer/ songwriter/guitarist ever!!!! Brilliant!!! : )

  • @wrath0x

I think Mossy was never happy with Worlds Away (1992) rather than Matchbook.

  • God I love Ian Moss. I remember reading somewhere about him saying he felt this album was rushed and he wasn't happy with the mix and shit like that. TBH, i think its absolutely spot on.That stratty tone, well mixed harmonisations, REAL drums(rare at the time, esp in more pop directed efforts) it's all just perfect. I never tire of this album.
