@13Pasha This song was sung at my brother's memorial by his very talented musician friends and, yes, tears flowed. The song will carry me.... Seen him Dougie 2x and hugged him! He's "kin".

I remember Dougie singing this at the Folk Aid for Lockerbie concert in 1989. Such a timeless song, it touches the heart immediately, and never lets go.

I love Dougie's music too. Saw him many times in concert in glasgow and had the priveledge to sing the Loch Tay Boat Song along with him in a small session very many years ago at the Orkney Folk Festival. A drunk almost poured beer down his back while we were singing :P He will never remember that, but I do :) He is a lovely guy :)

This was the first song of Dougie's that i heard many years ago.Never tire of hearing it.
As silly as it may sound this song put things into perspective when my dad passed away. No matter how sad i got, knowing i had family and friends around when i needed them got me through the hard times.
