  • I have caught 20# & 30# Bluecats on frozen Shad and had them not touch the fresh ones. Frozen Shad works! No doubt, frozen Shad get softer. Just hook through the tougher parts of the body. Top of the back is fine, also anywhere in the head.

    When storing Shad, make sure you don't put more in a bag then you would normally use for a day of fishing. I like the sandwich size zip-lock bags and will put in 10 or so. Drain the water out and seal, then put these in a gallon size zip-lock.

  • @Shakimdavis1 In Illinois we can have a 4' radius net with a 3/8" mesh.

  • Everybody tells me I can't freeze shad they get too soft. Do you have any tricks to share on freezing shad?
