  • @FidanMKD the first destruction of thebes from argos at 13 century bc where the war ended with the complete destruction of thebes. Aischylos tell us this in his project «Επτά επί Θήβας» (seven on thebes). But my opinion is that only in extremes conditions the ancient greeks completely destroyed other cities. (there are other recorded examples too.i haven't much time but if you want i can write them later)

  • @extrememark13 Are you retarded or something? When the greeks fought each other they didn't totally destroy their cities... As I said, when Alexander conquered Thebes he raised the city to the ground, killed almost every man and sold the rest of the citizens of Thebes to slavery. Thebes was one of the biggest and most important cities in ancient greece. It stopped to exist as a human settlement after this. Read about this... Ask yourself is there another example of this in greek history.

  • ''thraco-illyrian origins'' HAHA :)) Why the ancient amcedonians had the -os like greeks ?! WHy most of macedonian ancient inscriptions before the roman empire conquest are in greek??! Where is your logic, of and of other many historians who ahve said those retarded thinks?! it is true however that there were amny pelasgians in macedonia, many! But in my opinion, that proportion cannot pass over 40%. Macedonians were blonds and blue eyed unlike greeks. Cleopatra was blond blue eyed and MACEDON

  • @FidanMKD Ancient greeks were fighting all the time each other.Alexander stop this.He did this so he could unite greece and start his conquest against persia.

  • Alexander the great said :

"Our enemies are Medes and Persians, men who for centuries have lived soft and luxurious lives; we of Macedon for generations past have been trained in the hard school of danger and war. Above all, we are free men, and they are slaves. There are Greek troops, to be sure, in Persian service — but how different is their cause from ours! They will be fighting for pay — and not much of at that; WE, ON THE CONTRARY, SHALL FIGHT FOR GREECE "

    (Arrian)

  • @hoplitespao Yeah right...

    1) Alexander was not the king of Macedon at Chaeronea. Filip was. So him addressing the Greeks is complete non sense.

    2) After he became king, the Thebans and Athenians revolted against his rule. He punished them with extreme severity. He razed Thebes to the ground sparing only the house of the poet Pindar. Athens surrendered immediately.

Read some history before you post something.

Macedonia was never a part of Greece before 1912 - First Balkan War... Ever.

  • Alexander addressing the dead Thebans and Athenians after the battle of Chaeronia:

" Holy shadows of the dead, I'm not to blame for your cruel and bitter fate, but the accursed rivalry which brought SISTER nations and BROTHER people, to fight one another, I do not feel happy for this victory of mine. On the contrary, I would be glad BROTHERS if I had all of you standing here next to me, since WE ARE united by the SAME language, the SAME BLOOD and the SAME visions"

    (Curtius Rufus)
