Group of lean-to rescuers build a brand new lean-to. They originally built the lean-to in a pole barn, labeled each piece, disassembled, and reconstructed it at Bear Lake. The event was captured on camera in a stop motion video March 5th and 6th, 2010.

  • great job! is this along a trail were anyone can hike and sleep? or is it somthing you'd have to rent?

  • @natureperson420 It's open to the public, you just need to hike miles into the woods to get to it. This is a No Motor zone. I was not involved with the build so I don't know exactly where this Lean2 is located (besides Bear Lake).

  • Very nice! Had a chance to use it last week. The best lean-to I've stayed at so far in the ADKs. Thanks for all of your hard work. It will be appreciated for years to come!

  • @birdhead115 ....thanks a lot, I'll be sure to pass your comments onto the individuals involved with the build.

  • how do the logs get up there?

  • @minator3 .......They either float them in on canoes or haul in on carts custom built for the task, all these areas are in no engine zones. This particular lean2 was prebuilt and dismantled. It was transported to Woodgate where the DEC helicopter air lifted them to the site. Frozen Bear Lake was the unloading zone. This would not have been possible in the warmer months since there are no areas clear to drop the logs. The group is an amazing and very talented group of individuals.
