  • Would it work on a camera such as the D3100 or D3000?

  • @ProfessorOwen - Yes, it's an HSM lens so it'll work on the D3100, D3000, D5100, and other Nikon bodies with no built-in AF motors.

  • I truly prefer your reviews of sigma product over sigma themselves!

  • @JogBird I doubt people who buy this lens are really that concerned with a slow lens, This would be perfect for landscape shots were your shooting at much smaller appertures for more depth in the shot.

  • which one do you recommend? sigma 8-16mm + used nikon 17-55mm f2.8 or tokina 12-24mm f4 + sigma 24-70 f2.8 (can't afford the nikon 24-70). thanks!

  • this is the best review ive heard online good stuff man keep it up

  • i think sigma's recently changed their ex criteria, only fixed aperture can be called ex nowadays

  • Does anyone else not really care about build quality? I just want to see the IQ!

  • does sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6 DC HSM compatible with d7000?thanks ^_^

  • @S8OR yes... check out amazon

  • if we convert to fullframe that has less 1.5 crop factor, 8mm on APS-C format would be 12mm on a fullframe camera. And 11mm is equal to 16.5mm.

so if we are using a fullframe camera, the difference between 12mm and 16.5mm would be 4.5mm. And for me that's quite significant.

and about the f number (4.5 - 5.6), since its a wide angle lens mostly used for landscape or architecture. For me to take a picture of landscape, i never use small f number. usually i use 8 to 16 for the sharpness... IMHO :)
