This is a demo of some of the sounds of the Emu Drumulator and how it can be controlled via MIDI.

  • Where did you get the MIDI retrofit kit and how long did it take? Cheers, and thanks!

  • If I remember, the mod itself is pretty straightforward, doesn't take too long.

You really just need the last OS eprom and to build the standard MIDI optoisolated circuit interface. the drumulator had a built-in serial port before MIDI was created; when MIDI came out, they retrofitted that port with the 5-pin DIN connector and the MIDI IN interface circuit

there was a guy online (djdab) who was selling the kit, but I'm not sure if he's still active.

  • really good simple demo video. thanks

  • miss my drumulator!!

  • cheers friend.. I hope you monitor this site often 'cause you might be able t o help me out. I just got one of theese from my brother.. No manual and I have no history with D-machines at all so i am a newbie. But we are gonna to a very humble elektronika gig in a newly opened store on saturaday.. Can you post a quick fool guide just how to start the drumulatar and acces sounds so I can hit a snare hi-hat and a bass drum? kinda like "start the kit.. press drum and use abcd to trogger sounds" ?

  • how many drum hits are there on the drumulator. where can u buy more drum hits for it?

  • I've contacted djdab. I'm just not that technical, and in fact, haven't even opened the drumulator yet. Thanks, though. Can I sync it to my MIDI interface if it has a SMPTE out? Then I could just make the beats on the machine and run it with my computer. I read the manual, but it seems to be more about linking it up w/tape decks as opposed to sequencers (1982, duh!) Thanks.

  • great video! Love the Drumulator. Thanks for putting this up. Cheers!
