My fly fishign instructor taught me to cast by keeping a $50 bill under my casting arm. If I didn't keep my arm tight in, he said, the accuracy was lost, as well as the $50 he made me put under my arm!
I learned very, very fast that keeping the casting arm in is proper technique. The old guys know best!
