Documentation of the aftermath of my Geo after a near head-on collision in an intersection. The car still ran and drove amazingly!

I got $990 from insurance after it was (obviously) written off.

  • They gave you only $990??? Geo Metros are starting to be hard to find and have great gas mileage.

  • Yeah, it had over 280K on the odometer.

  • lucky for you this is the newer model geo which was quite a safe vehicle for its time. i totalled mine as well, except i rolled it and it was the 4 dr model.

  • Oh my, I hope you were okay. I know the roofs of these cars don't fair too well in rollovers.

  • You did this on purpose! You spoke earlier about living without a car! I guess ya got it.

Or, maybe you predicted the future! @_@

Tell us more about the future great oracle!

  • I think the car was actually trying to tell me something :P For one, it forced me to live without a car in a much less planned way and it even saved me money in the long run as I saved $1100 (2 months without driving).

Now I'm seasoned for the car-free lifestyle this summer :)

  • I always liked my Metro

  • You purchase another car.

  • I talk about it briefly on my "Living without a car (part 3)" video. I was stopped in an intersection making a left turn. The light turned yellow then red and someone made a last second dash through the intersection and collided almost head-on.

I didn't find any witnesses in time, so there was no way to prove that the other driver went though the red light (he of course claimed it was green for him) so I ended up only getting $990 for the Geo in insurance. Oh well. I'm going car-free now.

  • What did you do to the Metro?
