Hybrid SSTC?

This is the same 3.5"x7" coil I use to test my different driver configurations in attempt to get better output. I'm using a external interrupter through fiber optics, as well as a transformer wired up using only the primary as an auto-transformer from 120 to 240VAC. The actual voltage to the transformer from the Variac is 140VAC so the transformer is actually putting out 275VAC for a rectified and smoothed 380VDC.
This coil will eventually become a DRSSTC.

Great results for a SSTC! What's resonant frequency of this coil?

@Uzzors2k Thanks, I got much better results than expected for this coil given the IGBT aren't the fastest. (FLG60N100BNTD) I think the resonant frequency is around 600KHz.

I have the same coil, and I must say... your sparks are much longer than what I'm getting... Very nice job, love the spun topload.

Nice one! You can try paralleling some DC-link capacitors with the electrolytic for a higher peak current. Most electrolytic have incredibly high ESR.
