Having fished festivals in Ireland for the the past 15 years I feel I am in a good position to comment. I know mats are not generally available however fish don't have to be bounced down a keepnet on rocks before weighing in!

You have never obviously been on the match circuit my freind. Ask any seasoned proffesional who fishes in ireland. I've been fishing out there for 30 years and never seen a mat yet!!! By the way all fish went back alive and kicking!
