@Vakhortazar like Furtwangler, Mengelberg didn't care of any politic ideas, he did care about music only. He just made a joke about jewish which was badly interpreted, it cost him this wrong reputation that some people think about him

Is really GREAT to hear WM voice. I've collected almost all his recordings, including rare dutch music, old NYPO... 70 years later his Mahler 4, his Ein Heldenleben and his Bartok VC wirh Szekely are still the best readings of these works. One of the greatest conductors ever. Thanks a lot!

I have a smart comment that he was a Nazi... would you erase it too?

@Vakhortazar Let's hear it first and see if it actually is smart.

Great !! I really enjoyed hearing the great Mengelberg speaking in person. In really didn't know this existed.... You can hear his Dutch accent clearly. Amazing. Can you please tell me if the Beethoven and Dopper (finale of the Zuiderzee symphony) sound extracts are indeed from this occasion ?

@topclassical Unfortunately they are not. I used the 1939 recording of the Zuiderzee symphony and a 1940 recording of the Ninth. But I guess material from the rehearsal of Tchaikovsky's fifth from that occasion does exist.
