This is a short quick video to demonstrate how to use and iRig with Garageband on a newer macbook pro with the single input/output audio jack. Plug in the iRig and select external mic in the sound preferences. Select Headphones/builtin output. In Garageband select system settings in the audio midi preferences.

  • If it has the single input/output jack then yes it will work.

  • Will this work on garageband 09' with a mid 2010 Macbook pro 13 inch?

  • @BFMV13241

It should. That what I was using. I wouldn't buy the irig just for recording into a macbook pro, but if you have the ipod it good that it works for both.

  • I wouldn't buy this specifically for recording into a computer. I have an iPod touch and I bought this for using with the Amplitube ipod app. It was just an added bonus to be able to use it with the computer. For the price it's not bad to use with a computer but it is a little bit noisy.

  • Nope, won't work MB's will separate input jacks.

  • So does it mean that the older mackbook (with a mic input different from the headphones output) iRig won't work?

  • @pconterulez

I doubt it would work on the older one. I have one so I'll check it but it doesn't have the same jack input.

  • my macbookro only has a headphone plug in is there a way i can plug my guitar in that waay???

  • Your ugly xD

  • i plugged my irig into my 2010 white unibody macbook, and when i tried to turn up the volume, i start getting feedback, with or without a guitar plugged in. any idea what causes that and how to fix it, besides turning the volume down (which makes it extremely hard to hear)?

  • I tried irig just now and for some reason, it acts like a microphone, i am using it for my itouch and i was able to hear everyone around me when i pressed record to record on my guitar. how can i get rid of all that so i just hear the guitar?

  • @JYUkulele you plug your guitar into one end then with the mini-jack you plug that into your laptop/iphone/ipod/ipad what ever you have then you plug in your external speakers or headphones

  • how did u get no feedback?

  • hey i have the normal 13 inch unibody (white) macbook will the irig work with it? i have the same 1 input/output. or if you know any other way it would work.

    thanks
