Thanks as Illinois has now made it difficult to get sodium hydroxide with the whole show your drivers license every time you want to buy it. I scaled up this experiment to a 16 electrode and 12 amp charger produces up to a 1lb in a weekend and is perfect for my uses

i like the song, does anyone know its name

I usually use a paper towel salt bridge, but it adds a heck of a lot of resistance. Also, when i evaporate away the water i get mostly salt.

@h0meIandsecurity i have no clue, you can only buy tincture of iodine, it has a few grams of iodine in with 50mls of ethanol... i woulnt be able to work out the price.... sorry, ask myst32yt.... he may be able to help u

@h0meIandsecurity yeah so do i, TATP can be made 2 ways, one of the ways are highly dangerous and sensitive, the other way is mroe safer and more stable :)
-
@h0meIandsecurity the amount of acetone peroxide and nitrogen triodide i make will be very little and if i do make a medium batch, im keeping the nitrogen triodide in the NH4OH and the AP under water becuse thats where its the least stable... how are you gonna be making RDX?
-
@h0meIandsecurity becuase im not really planning on making explosives, i may made TATP and Nitrogen Triodide but im not into making them really, way too dangerous and id rather keep my fingures or life

@h0meIandsecurity yeah but i new how to make C4 and other explosive compounds when i was in yr 9 or 10... i found a awesome website that tells u EVERYTHING you need to know about fireworks and explosives and i printed of a second handbook full of just explosives and detonators... not that ill need it
So do i understand correctly that in order to use this reaction to produce electricity you must apply electricity?
Does this mean that it is not an effective "battery"?
Also, do all galvanic cells require the application of electricity for the redox reaction to occur and produce electricity?

@hmscooler96 yes you are correct, i have a 6 volt/12 volt car battery charger hooked up too it, with out electricity, this reaction will not occur, so to answer your question if this is a effective battery then its incorrect...
Sorry i dont know how to answer your last question, i dont know anything about galvanic cells
