  • @ZivaDavid2: Without the comics to base stories & the pairings from, the show wouldn't exist. You say "Comic Terra and cartoon Terra are two different people", to which I say that the reason for that is demographical, since you cannot have a chain-smoking slut in a show meant for impressionable kids & their sensitive parents, for let's face it, the show was for that viewer base moreso than it ever was for teens & young adults.

  • @TherealRNO Okay, I've never read the comics. I know a bit about them, but I've never actually read the comics. I only got into the television show. I'm just saying that in the cartoon, Terra was sorry for what she did. Comic Terra and cartoon Terra are two different people.

  • The 3rd origin seems the most likely, since there's now a Terra III, brunette-turned-eventual blond Atlee, who's also a Stratan replacement for Terra II, with all 3 Terras having the DNA of the original, which means the bitch's corpse in some Stratan lab being mined of its genetic code whenever a new Terra resurfaces, since new writers seem to love Terra, even if her original creator, Marv Wolfman--the show's writer-consultant--wanted Terra to stay dead after the betrayal & death.

  • The comics also revive Terra, but toy with 3 origins...

    1. That she's a girl from the future, with false memories implanted by Chaos that led her to believe herself as the daughter of GeoForce.

    2. That she is the original bitch, but with memories wiped by Time Trapper.

    3. That she's a genetic clone from underground Strata, whose scientists experimented on the original & from whose quixum element every Terra's powers come from, resulting in insanity/identity crisis as a side effect.

  • @ZivaDavid2: The comics worked like that too, except instead of just seeing one side of the story--i.e. the view BB & Terra's brother GeoForce probably saw (and the one the show used for demographic reasons)--we also saw the truth, with Terra manipulating the Titans & using Slade to get what she wanted. You say, "If Terra really was a 'bitch' she wouldn't have felt regret", yet the comics show--from BB's rose-tinted perspective--just that before Terra's true colors are revealed.

  • @TherealRNO Terra was very confused and very complex. It was her insecurity issues and trust issues that drove her to Slade in the cartoon. In the cartoon, Slade and Terra had a warped father/daughter relationship rahter than a sexual one. If Terra really was a 'bitch' she wouldn't have felt regret, but she did. And when she was revived, she didn't even remember anything. Yes, she likes to run away from her problems, but I think she just needs the right guidance.

  • Indeed, though Terra never appealed to me as a character, I was led into a similar situation & now, both BB & I would realize that even if it fails, you never forget your first love--which is a part of you forever--even as you're with other people (for example, Beast Boy fighting Terra's zombie form in the comics' Blackest Night saga & he recognizing that for all the heartache, Terra would forever being a void in his heart, even if he's happily with Raven now).

  • You take my analysis of her Terra as dislike given the words used, but really, you couldn't be further off. I mean, yes it is true that I never liked the betrayal, but that's because I could easily relate to Beast Boy's troubles with her, ironically going through the very same thing in my then-current relationship at the time & I was probably projecting my own feelings when watching the Terra arc.

  • Also notice that she only turned against Slade once she supposedly realized that he was taking advantage of her, which ironically only began once Terra began to doubt herself & even with her supposed sacrifice--which was negated once Terra II appeared, regardless of whether she was the original revived or just a genetically identical clone (as the comics entertained both ideas)--she was still always running from her problems, instead of facing them like a worthy herorine.

  • Notice that when they first met, Slade was selective in his words & easily convinced Terra to see things his way, complete with his even caressing her hair as she internally battled the pros & cons of siding with the very baddie the Titans warned her about, but being too weak & too insane already to see herself going down the wrong path. Notice too that during her whole time with both the Titans & Slade, she only sided with each whenever they appealed to her need for control & power.
