One of the most harrowing, amazing scenes of the series that I've seen. Constance McCashin at her best.

  • she seems really nervous and insecure...why the hell would you set yourself up for an attack like that? "oh, a creepy guy who's staring at me from across the bar is coming over here...oh! he drew a picture of me [at this point, in real life, I'd run away-CREEPER ALERT!], oh! he wants me to pose for him-I know! I'll go to his house! nm that I don't really know him- I just can't say no! oh look, he's showing me arou--OOHHH FFFFFUUUUUUU---"

    EVERY WOMAN WATCHING: *facepalm*

  • @nadavno I love how it would come out at the most unexpected moments, even in the later seasons.

  • ØK maybe she made a mistake, or was initially turned on. She can change her mind! Nobody deserves that.

  • @ilovetruffles99 so of COURSE I'm upset! she was being full on STUPID!!

  • @ilovetruffles99 and I think you're misunderstanding what I mean when I say she was "setting herself up for it." She wasn't listening to her natural survival instincts: "hm, there is something off with the way this guy is responding to me. I should stay away from him." or "this strange man wants me to go into his apartment while I'm wearing this revealing dress, I doubt he has chivalrous intentions." NOPE. she just WALTZED right in there!

  • oh boy, now we have to go into Akwardville: hon, I AM a sex-abuse victim. I didn't ask for it either, and I knew the boy for a long time, and yes, I was afraid of telling people, and just let it go on. I finally told someone, and have developed a fiercely protective side for women in general. I don't want anyone to go through that. A good rule: Trust Your Gut (TYG). So, sorry, I get upset when I see a woman NOT TYGing, she was OBVIOUSLY uncomfortable.

  • @ilovetruffles99 , I respect that you don't feel she deserved it. But like I said, it's easy to judge when you haven't walked in the shoes of a victim. One of the main reasons rape is still underreported is because the victim blames herself and fears the judgement of others, not to mention fear of being attacked again. Many rapes are violent and the offenders threaten the victim - assuming that the attack does not end in murder. Just saying.

  • @ilovetruffles99 , it's not that simple. People reach fear & intimidation at different points. And often, women are raped by people they trust. Every situation is different, there are even different types of rapists, with different MOs. Was it smart of her to go off with him in an isolated place? No. But, it also was not an open invitation for him to attack her. Maybe she thought she COULD handle herself. Until you've been in that situation, you can't really judge.

  • @Muirmaiden well, OBVIOUSLY!!! I'm a little insulted that you think that I think she deserved it. I completely agree with you--she didn't deserve it, he had no right to attack her (does anyone EVER?!), and that she didn't ask for it. But the world is dangerous, and you have to--HAVE TO look out for yourself as a woman. Common Sense (it isn't so common, as expertly displayed by this woman)...this woman does not have it.

  • @ilovetruffles99 , she had no way of knowing what would happen, nor was she responsible for what he did. No one asks to be raped or do they "set themselves up for it". Was it poor judgement on her part? Yes. But he had no right to attack her.

  • One of the finest episodes on the show. Constance McCashin did some superb acting here
