Javed Chaudhry - host of Kal Tak program in Pakistan - describes the cultural shame associated with begging in the Subcontinent and questions why Pakistan has become a nation of beggars. According to him, people generally beg for money when they are either financially ruined or when their expenses exceed their incomes. In both cases, however, the act of begging carries a heavy social stigma that people try very hard to avoid. Yet Pakistan - as a country - appears to have lost all cultural shame by resorting to begging on the international stage for loans and grants.

How can you say the Indian govt. did next to nothing? What's the proof? My sociology teacher always told me that whenever you say something, make sure you got solid proof to back up your statement. Show some evidence. For example, if you say that our media is even worse than politicians, you gotta show some convincing reliable sources. There are no martial laws in india, no dictatorship, no brutal regimes that subjugate their people. It took the U.S 200 years to correct their political system.

It's due to string of bad leaders who always thought their country as their fiefdom and stripped this country of it's assets thru corruption. Pakistan must adopt Malaysia's model for economic development. It can also look at India's focus on education. Here I hv to stress the Govt of India did next to nothing. But, ordinary ppl always laid high priority to quality education. Knowledge is the new fountain of wealth.
