On March 13, 2008: We see one of GO Transit New MP40PH-3C #605 in testing stage on an Eastbound Lakeshore Line hourly all day Commuter Rail trip from Aldershot Station in the West (Behind the train) to Oshawa in the east. It is crossing Port Credit River Bridge and nearing the Port Credit station Platform on the old #2 track that will become track #3 once the new #1 track (to the Right) and bridge is built over the river by 2010. #605 is pulling an FP59 locomotive #525 (that there to push the MP if it breaks down), 9 double deck coaches and a double deck cab car since this is a push/pull train. These new Locomotives that can push and pull 12 cars train as plan by GO transit, they will replace all the existing FP59's since they only can push/pull 10 cars. It is said these new locomotives will travel at 95 mp/hr vs. the 80 mp/hr FP59's. All the crossover tracks, switches and the block signal bridge have been removed and place on the west side of Mississauga Road to the west of the river. This train will stop at Toronto Union Station that is haft way between the point to point system as well the major hub for the system. FP59 #525 has been retired and was sold in 2009. This video was the first one I shot with the new camera. As a note, it is possible these new locomotives maybe able to push/pull 14 cars in total. GO is up grading all the trains to 12 cars from 10 as they get new coaches as well expand the existing platforms for the extra cars. As of 2010, all the crossover and switches were removed and relocated to the west of the bridge.

  • awesome catch. Do GO trains have hyundai rotem cars like metrolink does?

  • @FanOfthePADRES411

No, but Metrolink have the same cars as GO, since GO was the first one to get them from the Thunder Bay Plant. Other systems in the US have the same cars as GO.

  • Yes

  • 10 cars. 12 cars are used on some express trains.

  • the new 3rd track will be to the right of the existing 2. the new bridge over the river is in place now. it will join the 3 tracks at port credit now.

  • Running 2 engines in case one fails during operation.

Allow no service interruption until another train can be put on the line for replacement on the weekends.

  • I've always loved the GO-Train livery on the old F-units. (FP-9s?)

The last time I did a quick search I couldn't even find a photo of one.

  • How about Bio-diesel for the older proven loco's eh,some agriculture and crop rotation tax incentives for farmers and a nice secure clean fuel supply for Canadians.
