Over 7000 members of the public attended an Open Weekend at Rothamsted Research, 22-23 May, 2010. Visitors were invited to tour the world-class facilities and find out about the latest advances in agricultural research. They engaged with Rothamsted's scientists at more than 50 wide-ranging exhibits. Debates covered questions such as; is our environment changing; can genetics help us produce more food crops that meet our current and future needs; can we make farming more environmentally friendly and what are the implications for the consumer? One of the big debates is the use and performance of chemicals in food production.
