  • Would this work on 10.04

  • @56walid I'm the process I listed here would work. It all comes down to the drivers you currently have. With most distros the community supports this aspect by providing them to the production. I would search Ubuntu's website in regards to your wifi card. To find out what driver, if any, open a terminal and type sudo lspci | grep -i wifi or sudo lspci | grep -i wired. The output should show details about your current driver. Use that information to find a more current article.

  • its written 'wireless networks disconnected' i cant detect any wireless in ubuntu and even it doesnt show any what can i do ?

  • @bjuicezzZZ Is the network icon, looks like a mini computer, displayed (In the upper right hand corner to the left of the time)?

  • @TheUMLabs actually now im connecting with motorola cable modem and its not wireless. icon looks like two arrows up and down. when i click on it wireless networks is written disconnected i have another pc and it shows a few connections (neighbor modems*) i mean they all enable to connect in windows but not in ubuntu . sorry for my english btw im not native hope u get what i mean :).

  • @bjuicezzZZ You may need to update your drivers via updating Ubuntu. If you have a ethernet cable (modem cable) plug that into your computer. The icon should change, seeing as it is downloading / uploading from what you stated. Click on the icon and then connect. Open a terminal and type sudo apt-get install update. This can also be done via the update manager found in the System/Administration/Update Manager.
