i have 8 or 9 tapes full of point and shoots, alot of them are unwatched

And sound design is most definitely of utmost importance. I think we're all going in bizarre directions with this. I want good cinematography no less than I want good acting or good directing, etc... But sound and screenwriting are perhaps the two most overlooked crafts, versus the more obvious [and popular] elements in a movie.
Hate to be a bother, but I have noticed what I can only refer to as "flash images" in a number of videos I have viewed in the educational stuff (check out section around 4:30, image is of a pair of Canon cameras) I don't know if you intended this, or youtube screwed the upload somehow.

The "flash images" are used because YouTube uses the center point of a video as a thumbnail. You'll probably notice that the flash images are right at the midpoint of a video. It's intentional.

would you agree with me that the intro to little miss sunshine had great cinimatography. and due to that start i wanted to watch the whole of the film (its also just a great film in my view)

Heh, LMS is part of the opening shots project (supposedly having one of the greatest opening shots in recent films). So yes, I'd agree with you.
