Chester is my Russian Tortoise. As you can see, he is ridiculously cute. He is a very busy tortoise, always digging and dashing and strolling about. He eats a lot but also enjoys walking through his food to festoon his enclosure with the lettuce fragments that get stuck to his feet. In the summer time I bring him outside to enjoy the sun - no pesticides are used on the lawn around our home, so it is safe.

I don't know how old Chester is because the young ladies I got him from didn't know, but I've had him for about a year.

His bedding right now is alfalfa pellets with shredded coconut shells on top, but I'm not sure I like it. I'm going to give it a few more weeks, but I think he like having a substrate that was more dirt-like to dig around in. I feed him lettuces mixed with tortoise food (reconstituted grasses) with vitamin powders dusted on top. Also other vegetables and very small amounts of fruit as recommended by experts.
