So the parody of Batman was how Batman was meant to be? You got you info wrong man. Just take a look at the earliest Batman stories, like Detective Comics #27. He was very much the Dark Knight in those stories. It wasn't into the introduction of Robin when they changed Batman into the campy version. It was done to better market him for children.

This was what I grew up with! Batman/ spiderman cartoons today have been made so "childfriendly" trying too hard to be funny and cute that it has lost its original flavor and soul.

The ambiance of Batman TAS was incredible. The orange and black sky, the dark corners, the shadowy figures. What a masterpiece of animation.
