Runaway Baby Ch.5

Taylor's P.O.V
I pulled up at the house I had bought with the money my mum had left me, Abby had only just fallen asleep after I had woken her up to check on her incase she had concussion so I lifted her in my arms and carried her to the bed.
I went back down and brought the rest of our stuff into the house, including the stuff we had bought on our way here. Food, clothes and stuff to last us here.
I went up to the other room and slipped my shirt off and went into the bathroom.
I let the water run over my muscles and sighed in content.
After a while I stepped out and dried off, then slipped my boxers on. I went out and jumped when I found abby on my bed. She turned to me slowly and looked up at me as I grabbed a shirt and put It on.
Taylor- what are you doing in here?
I asked.
Abby- um, well...
She blushed and looked down at her feet.
Taylor- what's up?
I asked.
Abby- I'm scared... I just wanted to share with you... please?
she whispered.
I smiled.
Taylor- of course, go change your jeans, I left the clothes we bought today in the other room.
She nodded and went back to her room and I went out to the kitchen and pulled out an ice pack.
When I got back she was curled up tight in my bed. I layed back next to her and she immediately curled up against me, her frame clearly shaking and scared. I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her up so her face was against my chest, then I placed the ice-pack onto her cheek that was bruising up.
Taylor- we should have done this earlier.
I said quietly, looking down at her.
Abby- what? Sleeping together like this? Yeah.
I smiled.
Taylor- I was talking about icing your face, but yeah, sleeping together is something that we should have done a while ago too.
She smiled and closed her eyes, I stared up at the roof, holding the ice-pack to her cheek.
Abby- taylor?
she asked quietly.
Taylor- yeah?
Abby- You said your mum left money for you... what happened to her?
Taylor- She was killed by people like the ones we are dealing with right now. I was at school and my grandparents came and picked me up, then we raced to this hiding spot with the Police.
Abby- oh... I'm sorry.
She whispered quietly.
Taylor- it's okay.
Abby- how come we're not with the police?
She whispered.
Taylor- they found me and my grandparents, the cops got us out of there and sent us on our own because they knew the people that wanted me thought we were with police. Those men, they think we're with police right now, I should have known as soon as I saw that black car back there, they probably thought it was a cop car...
She nodded and sighed.
After a few minutes I broke the silence again.
Taylor- what about you? It's just you and your dad right?
She nodded.
Abby- I never got to really meet my mother... She died giving birth. It was so unexpected, I was healthy, she was healthy... then, bam...
Taylor- sorry...
I mumbled, feeling bad for bringing it up.
Abby- when I was about eleven I saw this thing on t.v. This girl had been abused by her dad her whole life because her mother died giving birth. I remember going and asking my dad why he didn't hate me for taking away mum. He told me that mum had miscarried before me, and that he was so happy to finally have me, that it didn't cross his mind very often. And when it did cross his mind, he said that mum had to be in heaven with their baby boy because he needed someone to take care of him.
