The Berlin Reed Organ Goes to Church, Part 2. I found that this one gave a good workout of the left leg on the grand organ knee swell. Please pardon the little finger glitches I was experiencing.

About the composer: Samuel Sebastian Wesley lived from 1810 1876, and was an English organist and composer. He was born in London, the son of the composer Samuel Wesley and grandson of the famous hymn writer Charles Wesley. Famous as an organist in his day, he composed almost exclusively for the Church of England.

  • Wow, that sounds remarkable for a reed organ. I just had to comment. It's my first time commenting on YouTube. I'm a YouTube Virgin! LOL

  • Thanks, and welcome to the wonderful world of You Tube :)

  • Another great performance! This organ does have a very impressive bass and overall tone. I know you cleaned the reeds when you worked on it. What did you use and did you have to do any tuning? Most reed organs I've heard have at least a spot or two that aren't quite in tune, some very sour. And usually a few reeds that are slow to speak. I haven't noticed that at all with this organ. It must have been a very "top of the line" instrument when it was built (and still is)! Thanks again!

  • Thanks! I used 5 parts water to one part ammonia, soaked them for a few minutes, then lightly brushed them and then rinsed with warm water and quick dried them on a hot plate, set to around 140 Fahrenheit. They were still tarnished but clean, and I tried to work with the reeds as minimal as possible. I was very lucky because most the tuning problems were mainly from dirt buildup. I had to tune a couple of them that were really out, it took me an entire evening just to do two reeds :)

  • Such an amazing tone for a reed organ. Mine seems to be very sludgy in the more bassier notes. This sounds almost like a pipe organ.

  • It's really hard to believe that such a small organ can have such a big sound. What a treat! Thanks.

  • that's a HUGE sound! well done!

  • Fabulous! Please can you let me know the publisher of the 'manual' version? Thanks. Robert

  • Such a beautiful piece you are playing :)

  • what is name of this organ, where is located, and I saw price on ebay how much

  • This organ needs a 16' pedal bass, And it would sound exactly like a pipe organ! I wish I could restore one as you have! You have a God given talent not only to play, But to also restore organs! Keep up the good work!

  • Very nicely played and registered. Love your video about your organ's restoration. I have a small Wicks pipe organ pipe in my house that I partially rebuilt. Greetings from Milwaukee, WI. :)

  • Excellent

  • Good job and you didn't even work up a sweat! lol Keep-on-a-pumping! :)

  • Nicely voiced instrument, just shows that free reeds don't have sound like toy organs
