If the only two things Michael Imperioli had ever done with his career was play Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos and getting shot in the foot by Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, he would still be a star for the rest of his life.

As it is, the New York actor has done plenty of other jobs, starting up two theatre companies (the second Studio Dante, with his wife of 15 years, Victoria Chlebowski), writing and directing, for both theatre and screen, and, of course, acting whenever he can.

With The Sopranos finally bringing him fame and recognition (the role of Christopher bringing him both an Emmy and a Screen Actors Guild award), Imperioli seems to becoming into his own of late.

Having directed his first movie last year, The Hungry Ghosts, Imperioli is on our screens now with not only the US remake of Life On Mars (in which he co-stars with Harvey Keitel), but also Peter Jackson's long-awaited adaptation of Alice Sebold's best-selling novel, The Lovely Bones, the latter telling the story of a 14-year old Susie Salmon, as she looks down on her shellshocked family after her brutal murder by a neighbour.

Here he talks to Paul Byrne for http://www.Movies.ie about working on the Peter Jackson film, where he plays the character of Len Fenerman. He also talks about his roles in movies and on TV shows.

Stay tuned for more Lovely Bones interviews next week!
