  • No, Davis's "delegates" were sent armed, and with no intention of setteling on terms of readmission to the Union, or on any terms of changing slavery laws. Jefferson would have been happy to reopen the north atlantic slave trade. Any accurate historian will tell you Jefferson Davis did not run the south, General Lee did.

  • @72shorty72 LOL because President Lincoln supported the Corwin Amendment which offered slavery's preservation in exchange for the South's readmission to the Union obiously there was something besides slavery because it DID NOT WORK

  • "When ever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally." Abraham Lincoln. While true Lincoln made many remarks about keeping slavery he wish it to die a slow death as it did in England where it was phased out on personal level. there was no chance of this in the US. Lincolns main goal was preservation of the Union. Slavery was only part of the issue.

  • @72shorty72 If he wished it to die a slow death why didn;t he negotiate with JEfrf Davis? Davis sent peace delegates before Fort SUmter was even fired on. Lincoln ignored their pleas. Lincoln declared war WITHOUT congress' conmsent, in fact he SUSPENDED congress for 3 months, ARRESTED anyone who oppossed him, shut down 500 newspresses for speaking against him, And declaring Martial Law in Maryland. These my friend are powers only a DICTATOR ASSUMES HOLD OF.

  • And apparently so have you. notice the date of your quote, 1858, this is 3 full years before lincoln took office on March 4, 1861. Political views change, espically when acting on behalf of an entire political party. In those yeas of lincolns life he made many observations, and learned. as should you

  • @72shorty72 "If i could save the union without freeing slaves, i would, if I could save the union by freeing some slaves and leaving others alone, i would, what i do about slavery i do because i bel;ieve it helps save the union" It is also fair to note the Emancipation proclamation listed areas that were to be left "as if this proclamatiuon had not been issued". Meaning if the Union occupied it, slavery was totally fine"

  • The politics of class warfare. Lincoln was a politician no different than todays flip-floppers who sold their souls in the hopes of living in the White House

  • MAY YOU ROT FOR ETERNITY BOOTH!!!!!

  • I love the bagpipe music!!

  • ISLAM IS TYRANNY:

    Sic semper tyrannis:

    DEATH TO ALL TYRANTS !

  • THERE ARE ACTUALLY TWO VERSIONS

    OF PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN:

    THE "GOOD" PRESIDENT LINCOLN

    & THE "REAL" PRESIDENT LINCOLN.

  • the union army didn't kill him. it was a conspiracy theory.

  • Please add a little more historic veracity to your tribute by adding JWB last words as he viewed his hands (raised by a Union soldier at his own request since the shot that would kill him a few moments later left him paralized from the neck down):

    "USELESS, USELESS"

  • To the person who is behind this video: You forgot to take your medicine son.

  • Lincoln's people launched the Dahlgren Raid in 1964, which was a covert cavalry strike into Richmond in order to assassinate Jeff Davis and other Confederate leaders. That raid made Lincoln fair game for Booth's derringer.
