My girlfriend and I made a pilgrimage to visit Stacy Sutherland, guitarist of the 13th Floor Elevators, at his grave in Center Point, Texas, outside Kerrville. I serenaded the man with "I Had To Tell You", written by Roky Erickson and Clementine Hall, from the Elevators' 1967 album Easter Everywhere, which was supposedly a favorite of his. During the filming, my girlfriend experienced a pain in her stomach (where Stacy was fatally wounded in 1978) and felt a sudden sadness, although she knew little about his life and nothing of the circumstances of his death before that day... strange goings on in Center Point, indeed.

  • i live across from the cemetery in center point! :D

even in the early morning there's a certain heavy aura in the air there. @w@;; it''s super quiet/silent in the morning at around 6-7am sometimes. i used to walk around there every morning but recently it's too hot even at 5am! *sigh*

  • @o0Tamaki0o Yeah, it's a mysterious place. Very Texas.

  • nice one

  • Nice tribute. I'm an old Elevators fan. Saw them many times in Houston in the 60s and coincidentally now live in Center Point and pass this cemetery daily. I'll make a special stop to toast Stacy.
