i didnt know westerns did hand-gallop! western looks so free flowing and not easy but you know what i mean? i woulds love to try since i have been doing hunter for 3 years

Sometimes people use heavy bits in Western Pleasure so the horse lowers its head. Some are just well trained.
Western Pleasure is supposed to be an easy-going pleasure class, you don't want a fast horse. Most of those horses did look like they're enjoying it.
Look at the gaits, not the speed. No four-beat lopes there!
Western Pleasure, believe it or not, does take a talented horse to do well.

'scuse me, I meant 3 beat ^^
-
you definitely have that wrong. Canter is supposed to be a 3 beat gait. Some people make their horses 4 beat which is stupid because they look lame. but a canter nor lope should ever be 4 beated.
-
the canter is a 4 beat gait...which is why for western pleasure they say "lope" which is a 3 beat gait :) walk is 4, trot is 2, lol
-
This isn't a dressage TEST. and I would love to see a dressage or eventing horse go around on a draped rein. no contact. and stay collected and cadenced.
-
I enjoyed watching the Arabian Western Pleasure class. I watched the AQHA World Western Pleasure class with almost every horse bobbing their heads, at the lope. The arabians go beautiful, fluid motion, Each gate like it should be, I hope they never change, I loved the horses,

...Except for, you know, when they stop them down like they do in WP so the "canter" IS a 4 beat gait. I mean, look at any Dressage test. Then look at an Eventer going Cross country, or a race horse- Then you will see a true canter, and a true gallop. This isn't it.

women have to pay $1000 for a jacket and the men get to wear a button down shirt lol
-
i love arabians tales the only thing i dont like is how there necks are arched
-
Actually if you rode one of them you would know that they are in that position because it is the correct way to get a horse to collect under themselves and work from their hocks (basic dressage) and you must be retarded because a canter is a 3 beat gait, not 4.
-
hahahah the hand gollop FIFNALLY gets the horse to move. and then still its only really a canter
Also, after the lineup when they're being called. The funny little gait that's looks like a cross between a trot and canter/lope is probably because the horse is energetic.
I jokingly call it a tranter.
