On April 2006, the Puerto Rican government ran out of money and was forced to impose a partial public sector shutdown. The island's 1,600 state schools have been shut and nearly 100,000 government workers have been temporarily left without jobs. Political commentator and analyst Luis Davila Colon is interviewed, although his statement "this has nothing to do with [status ideologies]" is somewhat inaccurate because the independence party had presented a plan to tax big corporations instead of the people. The implemented solution of the commonwealth and statehood parties was a sales tax on the people.

  • PUERTO RICO INDEPENCE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VIVA PUERTO RICO LIBRE enough OF USA

  • @loveangel71 Actually, @Israel4realz is right on this one...

  • @Isreal4realz Nazi America? Ja ja ja ja Are you a circus clown? Come on Mr Jewish mind your business this is Puerto Rico not Israel.

  • @ccarlos07 You want to blame D.C., go ahead. Just remember, most important decisions that affect PR's lives are made by Puerto Rican politicians.

It's not as if these people had no say in anything. You know that.

  • @ttiiyy It all started when they invaded us, the rest is history . . .

  • @ccarlos07 You don't just share responsibility. As true in 50 states in the US, the government that is in charge of the state/territory is responsible for the wellbeing of that region!

    The power comes with responsibility.

Many policymakers in Puerto Rico are now asking for even more independence, after they get what they want, you think you guys can still blame D.C. for anything?

Just grow up already. Puerto Ricans in these videos are way more mature than you are!

  • @ccarlos07 People like you are the reasons that some existing problems never get fixed. The Puerto Rican government is the one that makes most of the decisions. If we don't force these policy makers to change the way that they spend the money, blaming the federal government won't make a damn difference.

This applies to 50 states in the US, too.

I don't want to argue with you, but I hope you understand this.

It's the Puerto Rican gov't that affects Puerto Ricans' lives the most!

  • @ccarlos07 What are you talking about? Exactly what mistakes did Washington D.C. make??????? If the Puerto Rican government can blame the Federal government for the problems, the Puerto Rican government might not have any reason to exist any more.

You want to blame D.C. , at least POINT OUT THE MISTAKES MADE BY D.C. FIRST!

  • Si No podemos Cambiar las cosas con nuestros votos vamos a cambiar las cosas con la violencia purque la violencia es lo unco que entiende el Govierno De los estados unidos

  • The US must handover Puerto Rico back to the Pueto Ricans! No more fake bullshit democracy, give the Puerto Ricans back their land and their freedom!

FREE PUERTO RICO FROM NAZI AMERICA
