A young girl in Toronto, Canada sends a birthday message to Zia Nabavi, an Iranian student leader activist imprisoned in exile in Iran.
Rachel sent her birthday message to Zia during an Amnesty International World Human Rights Day "write-a-thon" event in Toronto, Canada.
Zia Nabavi is a high-achieving university student who was banned from his education for speaking out against educational discrimination (E.g. the Baha'i students in Iran are banned from receiving post-secondary education) and the star system in Iran, a practice denied by the Iranian authorities (E.g. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) but the existence of it is undeniable. Zia Nabavi, Mahdieh Golroo, Majid Dorri, and many more are starred students.
Zia Nabavi has one of the heaviest sentences issued to a student political prisoner following the post-2009 Iranian Presdential election uprisings.
The imprisoned student activist's birthday is on December 21st. You can send him a short message too and post it on the Zia Nabavi FB page: http://www.facebook.com/ZiaNabavi
