By making it a piece of software rather than a web app you make people take the risk of installing unfamiliar software. You also blow off Mac and Linux users.

Yeah, I know - you're trying to make some cash and who can blame you? But honestly, that's overkill. I just want something simple and free like what KeepVid used to be before they dropped support for .mp4

I urge you to make a free web-based version too, for people with basic needs and tight budgets.
