I agree.Had he put all the songs on The Promise out back when he wrote them,may of them would be hits for sure.They are amazing songs but what do you expected,he is amazing.

it appears that some of bruces work was hidden away for many years ... but destined always to ................ breakaway .......... simple a classic release from an artist with many classic moments ........ this song gives such a strong steer towards how many of The River songs came out ... great to have even a small insight into how a genius developes his craft ....

Bruce is far and away the greatest of all time; but his work in the 1970s was his best. Can't stop playing this CD over and over!!!

Agree 100% with Biggles. The melody and lyrics of Breakaway are just tremendous. I can't imagine why Bruce didn't see it that way when he wrote it. I guess just too many other great songs, he didn't have confidence in it or he couldn't find the right home so it got lost and just stayed in the vault. Almost a crime. But what a great present it is for us to open it over 30 years later. Its why I've enjoyed The Promise project so much since receiving it for Christmas.
