I have an 80 gig classic. I think my friends cat pissed on it, but it won't turn on at all this was about a year ago. I sent it to apple and they sent it back due to water damage. Can you guys fix that?

I stuck my thumbnail between the front and back plated, and got it open in less then five seconds.
Haha.
Now I can't figure out what to do.

Wow that's impressive. It was an iPod Classic? The larger Classic models like the 160gb are a little bit easier to open but they still take some work. I have received lots of damaged Classics from people trying to open them and breaking some of the delicate pieces during the process.
I mention you should start at the hold button but you need to use a lot of caution in this area because if you damage one of the tiny plastic tabs on the hold button slider it will give you problems.

this is a BAAAAADDD idea. do not do this! I crapped out my ipod trying to fix it! (and I am fairly good at working with small electronics). Apple designed it to break if you try to pry it open.

This is not true. Apple did not design this to break if you open it, you just need to do it correctly. We have fixed hundreds of iPod Classics without so much as a scratch to the casing.

Just for information sake it does take a while to seperate the front and back plates. My first time it took about 45 minutes. The video shows how you should open the case and what tools work for me. The case physically opens like the older versions aside from the extra locking clips that are located along the side and on the top.
