Exit's July 2006 production of The Magician's Nephew from C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia.
This was our first production to be aimed at a children's audience and our timing couldn't have been better with the popularity at the time due to Disney's version of The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe which was released the same year.
This production was directed by Brian Butler and starred David Vinter as Aslan, Sarah-Jane Manning as the white witch, Simon Rawlinson as Uncle Andrew, Susan Hailstones as Aunt Letty, Rachel Manning as Digory, Isabella Rocha as Polly and Graham Butler as The Narrator. The animals of Narnia were performed by Gill Butler, Ashley Marks, Tania Rahman & Joe Webster.
"I WILL HAVE NO NOISE IN THIS HOUSE!!!...
YOU ARE DRUNK!!!
GET THIS HEATHEN OUT OF MY HOUSE BEFORE I LOSE MY TEMPER!!!"
Those lines had me laughing and coughing. I'd love to meet Susan Hailstones and give her my compliments. She and Sarah-Jane were quite impressive. With their lungs and voices, someone should direct them to the nearest opera house.
People laugh & snicker when Aslan debuts. I don't like that. Mr. Vinter did an admirable job with his articulate, powerful voice
