OK, when it was a tusker, then there are no complains about the shot. But they are not visible in the thermal sight (what is normal at this distance I think). I suggest to write the hole story next time, and there will be no bashing.

Well, I also think it is a mother with cubs... And you took the mother what leaves the horde alone wihout a leader. Besides that the cubs seem to be very young. So there is a good chance that they will die of hunger. I am a hunter too, but would never intent to shoot a mother/leader of such a horde. It can happen by accident, what is bad enough.
You are right, we don't know the situation. So just let us know what happend, maybe we are wrong. Although I think it is not very likely.

@Matzebaer72: The "mother" was a 6-year-old male with 22,3 cm tusks. The group was there for 15-20 minutes when he arrived. The tusks were clearly visible with the night vision binocular... so there is no "accident".
