the new mexico music educators association all state treble choir 2002...I Thank You God by Gwyneth Walker

sorry, again, i dont know who the conductor was for that year

Text by: E. E. Cummings

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
wich is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun's birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)

  • Ummm.. i believe its supposed to be live like alive..

  • I met gwyneth walker in New York city when me and my treble choir went there to perform in Carnegie Hall. We sung this song plus some others by her.I will Be Earth is a good one by her also.

  • But I forgot to say nice job:) I just think that the vowel pronunciations needed extensive work and to keep breath support enabling them to stay on top of the pitch. There were quite a few flat areas but it's a very stable group that shows a lot of potentia.

  • You should hear TMEA All-State Women's choir perform this with the full orchestra. They were truely AMAZING! This is good too but not as mature a sound

  • OK, "beautiful job" wasn't enough. Intense, focused singing, energy, wow. This brought chills to my spine, warmth to my heart, and tears to my eyes.

  • Beautiful job, ladies.

  • This is beautiful. You convey all the intensity of the piece and make it seem effortless! Brava!

  • Lovely!

  • depends on how the director wants it.

  • I love this song so much. The composition is so beautiful. The piano is perfect for it. There is another version that is orchestrated on YouTube, but I prefer the piano version a whole lot more.
