Rush Limbaugh TV- The Ponytailed Guy Turns Election '92

One of the lasting images from the 1992 presidential debates between then-President George H. W. Bush, then-Governor Bill Clinton, and then-nut Ross Perot, came during that town hall-style debate. We at the EIB Network call that occurrence "the Ponytail Debate," in honor of that infantile, socialist, long-haired, maggot-infested FM-type questioner who asked the candidates to think of the American people as their children.


On the March 30, 1993 episode of Rush Limbaugh the Television Show, we talked a bit about this debate, because it was a significant insight into the way too many of us think in this country. The Constitution never set up the commander-in-chief to be a father to the nation. In fact, they fought the revolution to overthrow the king as their all-powerful, godlike father from whom all good things flowed.

We are a nation based on freedom and opportunity, not founded on the guarantee of happiness, a salary, a job or a home. We've seen that trying to legislate those kinds of things sounds great, but it's simply not possible. You just can't do it. We brought this ponytail guy up recently, because President George W. Bush received a similar question during a December town hall meeting in Florida.

Dub's answer wasn't that I'll think of you as my kids and take care of you, it was the right answer: I'll help get government out of the way so you get a job. Right on, Mr. President! Right on!

I did some reviewing of that debate. Gawd! I'd forgotten what an empty suit GHWB was. It's coming back to me now. The man had NO ideas and certainly NO conservative principles. The G-man, on his show pointed that out repeatedly.

I need to dig up Bush41's 1988 convention speech. He ran as being Reagan's veep and a WWII hero. I only recall some vague claim he made to being the "education president" or some shit...
