Burlington Northern Santa Fe GP38-2 units took the siding southbound to meet a northbound BNSF freight, just north of downtown Colorado Springs near Fillmore Street. The GP38-2 diesels, numbered 2260 and 2272, were built for BNSF predecessor St. Louis - San Francisco (Frisco) by General Motors in 1973. Both units, originally numbered SLSF 405 and 417 respectively, were renumbered Burlington Northern 2260 and 2272 in 1981. They retained their BN numbers after the BNSF merger. The warm colors and long shadows of trucks passing by on nearby Interstate 25 reveal that it is sunset, about 6pm on this cool Monday evening, March 22, 2010.
