"The Fall of The I-Hotel" - After the manongs labored to build America, their San Francisco community is wiped out by urban renewal, and 50 old-timers are forcibly evicted from the International Hotel by 300 cops in the dead of night. This film documents destruction of the last block of Manilatown on Kearny Street.
This clip was originally produced under the auspices of the Asian American Media Center, Inc., a nonprofit entity, by Christopher Chow and Curtis Choy in 1979 as the trailer for the Manongs Film Project, which eventually became The Fall of the I-Hotel. The visions and goals that propelled the project are realized and renewed every time a person sees the film, its fragments or its heirs and acts upon their experience. We thank you profoundly.

I was fortunate enough to watch "The Fall of the I Hotel" for a class at U.C. Santa Cruz in 1993. Curtis Choy's perfect documentary has forever changed my life. Please watch it and turn everybody you know on to it. Love someone today. --Eli
