Lived in Taiwan for 2 years now (Asia 4 years) and so boring here... would go home if it weren't for my partner. Would kill to be back in Portland.,, but can't convince my partner to come with.
10g's is plenty. You should be able to find a job teaching English, especially if you're not Asian looking at all. Make sure you get everything stamped and certified at the Taiwan Consular office before coming. Diploma's, marriage certificates, criminal background check. Get your visitor VISA and international drivers license before coming.
This is a really cool video Ive visited Taipei last year and loved it so much I'm planning to quit my job and move there for a year with my boyfriend. We are planning to save up ten thousand dollars USD for the whole year hoping we can find a job while there. Do you think 10 grand is enough to last us for the whole year or should it be more us to survive?
sorry, can you explain the door close on the elevator thing? i live in japan so things may be different...
we always hit that button when everyone's in the elevator because the elevator doors take forever to start closing... or is it so people don't have to wait for the people running to catch the elevator?

My favorite is "You tell the taxi driver to hurry up" hahahahaha!
That's hilarious because Taiwanese cab drivers drive at like triple the speed limit.

I left Taiwan when I was 15 and now I am almost 43. After being overseas for so long, I still miss the beautiful island.
