I think you are wrong though. the Doctor has always disliked guns and violence. The Doctor only really used weapons when they were necessary, saying that the 4th Dr "didn't have trouble shooting you" is just wrong. The 4th said many times that he disliked violence. "I never carry weapons. If people see you mean them no harm, they never hurt you. Nine times out of ten." The 3rd only used karate in self defence and it never seriously hurt or killed anybody. The Dr has always been a pacifist.
