Sorry for the late reply, but you addressed your reply to yourself so I didn't see it. The CREDO study is interesting, but in reading it doesn't really delve into the whys of its results, which are vague enough to the point that supporters and detractors have charters alike seem to cite it, mainly due to its sample size.
@rangers1919 The main best study would be titled, "Multiple Choice: Charter School Performance in 16 States." This study is by the Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO). There has been a claim that its statistical model was wrong, but that has been refuted on their website.
@blueelectricsmoke This isn't true. Like all charter schools they have been able to kick out students which do not perform well to increase their numbers. The largest study to date on charter schools has shown by paying more for charter schools we get 80% doing the same or worse, only about 20-30% actually perform better than public schools.
As for New Orleans, 9 out of 10 of the schools in the new system in New Orleans have received a performance score of a D or F.

@rangers1919
I may be misinformed, but would you care to give some links supporting those statements, like something from Educate Now or LDOE?

Am I the only one to actually like the idea of Surviva Balls?...

funny thing is that New Orleans after Katrina has been largely a success story for charter schools (which are open enrollment anyway)
