Reminds me of an illustration my old preacher used once: In baseball, the rulebook says that the strike zone is (something like) from the top of the numbers on the uniform to the waist. But then what if some team changes their uniforms so that their numbers are just an inch high, at belt level? It’s up to the umpires to interpret the rule book in light of an unanticipated situation, or else the game won’t be any fun.
