The bizarre and colourful annual 'Grand National' race for football club mascots at Huntingdon racecourse saw runners in furry costumes sprint a 200 metre course while leaping over fences. A total of 63 mascots lined up for the event. The seventh running of the race was also open to charity mascots and it was a red squirrel named Scoop6, after a national tabloid newspaper racing tipster's column, who won easily. Betting was brisk, although it should have been obvious that a betting coup was in progress when the price for Scoop6 dropped sharply from 100-1 to evens just before the start.Hot Under the Collar 12908/05Keywords: funny, cute, quirky, racing, sports, action, charity, mascots, costumes, fancy...
