@bandmedal But he was subjected to a criminal investigation for it, that demonstrates how fever pitch bad the British culture has become. And if what he said went against BBC's guidelines he still shouldn't be sacked for it, it is the guidelines that are stupid then. His concepts like free speech are not simply using "high concepts", it is a fundamental one. Whether you find his views offensive is irrelevant, and perhaps even your fault.

The problem with Kilroy here is that it's the old trick of defending stupidity by using high concepts like free speech and democracy. He has a right to say whatever he likes without being charged with an offence (and he wasn't charged with anything) but that doesn't make anything he said any less stupid, He was also perfectly entitled to get sacked for it if it went against BBC guidelines.
