The 8th Annual Yadkin Valley Wine Festival
will be held on
Saturday, May 16, 2009
11:00a.m. - 6:00p.m.
Elkin Municipal Park
Elkin, North Carolina

(DIRECTIONS: Take Exit 85 (Hwy 268 Bypass) off Interstate 77 and proceed west towards Elkin, following the signs - Proceed west on 268 Bypass to the third traffic light (four miles). At the third light, turn left onto Business 268 east, just over one mile to Elkin Municipal Park on your right. There is $5 per vehicle parking fee (proceeds benefit the Elkin Volunteer Rescue Squad). The 2008 Yadkin Valley Wine Festival was a spectacular success, with over 10,000 attendees, almost 3,000 of whom who sampled wines from twenty-one Yadkin Valley wineries. Over the years, visitors to the Festival have come from as far away as China, South Africa and India. Advance tickets have been ordered from as far away as Indiana! See links below Festival pictures and newspaper articles. The 2009 Festival is expected to be larger still, with several newly-opened wineries and more activities for families and wine tasters alike. The Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is open to the public, including families with children (for your safety and the safety of others, please leave your pets at home). Craft vendor displays and music will take place adjacent to the wine tasting area. There will be a roving Bacchus and activities for the youngsters. Entertainment for the 2009 Festival will commence with music by the Natty Bo Duo from 11a.m. through 12:30p.m. Big Daddy love will play from 1p.m. through 2:30p.m. Between music there will be a grape stomp for the kids in attendance and some other special events. Headliner band Legends of Beach (with Jackie Gore) will perform from 3:00 until 6:00p.m. Food and non-wine beverages will be available for purchase from selected vendors. Anyone tasting, purchasing or consuming wine must be at least 21 years of age (to comply with North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement regulations, ANYONE tasting, purchasing or consuming wine will be required to show positive photographic identification and obtain a wristband) along with a Yadkin Valley Wine Festival engraved wine glass. Picnic tables are available for vendor-purchased food, there is plenty of lawn space for blankets, and bleacher seating is located in front of the bandstand. For insurance, health and safety reasons, pets are prohibited from the Festival grounds. No outside coolers may be brought into the Festival. For your convenience, you may purchase and check your wine (multiple bottle packs and cases) at our wine-check area and have it held securely until you are ready to leave the festival.
WIN A CASE OF WINE: Complete the entry form you receive at check-in and drop off your entry at the Yadkin Valley Tourism Authority booth just inside the festival grounds from the main entrance. One entry card will be drawn every hour from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the main stage, and five lucky entrants will each receive a full case of wine. Thanks to several Yadkin Valley wineries for their donations!
